Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Barbeque Championships are heading back to Myrtle Beach this fall as part of the Grand Strand's annual Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival.
The fifth annual festival, scheduled for Sept. 3-4 at The Market Common, is the last leg of Myrtle Beach's Sun Fun Celebration of Summer series.
Organized by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival will feature live entertainment, wake board demonstrations, boat rides, celebrity meet-and-greets and a variety of food.
"We are excited about this year's line-up of activities and pleased to provide a free, family-friendly event for locals and visitors to celebrate Labor Day weekend again," Amie Lee, MBACC director of festivals and special events, said.
Three cooking events, according to organizers, are expected to take center stage at the 2010 edition of the festival. The Anything Goes contest and tasting on Friday has been scheduled as the warm-up for the South Carolina Barbeque Championships and Kansas City Society Cook-Off on Saturday.
The public will be able to sample barbeque from all competing teams on Saturday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Samples can be purchased with a $10 wristband.
