Conway Police officer suspended following DV charges

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A Conway Police officer has been suspended without pay pending an investigation into criminal domestic violence.

Jeffrey Charles Gore, 40, of Loris, was booked shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on charges of criminal domestic violence. He was arrested about three hours later on $500 bond.

Gore is a senior master police officer and has been with the CPD for five years, according to City Administrator Bill Graham. Graham says Gore is suspended until the case is resolved and an internal investigation is complete.

According to a police report, Horry County Police officers were called to Gore's home shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday. Gore said his ex-girlfriend pushed his way inside the home and tried to attack another woman. Gore said the woman hit him in the face and threw a glass through a window.

Officers contacted the woman, who said she went to the residence to get some of her things. She said when she knocked on the back door of the house, but got no answer, and entered a side door with a key. She said she saw Gore and another woman in bed, when Gore became angry, grabbed her and threw her to the floor. She said Gore threw a glass at her, but did not hit her, and she ran from the house.

A witness told officers Gore followed the victim out of the home, yelling at her.

Officers noted the woman had marks on her neck, which looked link finger marks, and bruise on her knee. She also complained of pain to both sides of her ribs and her elbow.
