Alice Donovan laid to rest
CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - She was missing for seven years, finally Alice Donovan is laid to rest. The Donovan family held a memorial service for Alice Donovan today, on the anniversary of her disappearance seven years ago.
The service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway was followed by a celebration of life party at Billards. The family says it is nice to have closure to such a long battle.
One of Alice's daughters, Jennifer Warner, said it's tough to keep up hope.
"I did [hope] when everything first started to happen, but then as time went on, your chances of hope diminish as time goes on," Warner said. "So no, I didn't think this day would ever come and it did so I'm happy."
CUE Founder Monica Caison said the one thing you must remember is "You can never give up hope in a missing person case."
Alice's two daughters finally got the chance to say a proper goodbye to their mother. During the service, the sisters told stories of their mom and also lit a candle in her honor. Balloons and doves were released in her name.
The family says they are extremely thankful to all those who helped find their mom and help keep the hope alive.
"We're ready to start a new chapter in our lives and put this behind us and move on," Angie Gilchrist said.
