Suspected McDonald's shooter arrested

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police have charged a 30-year-old man in connection to a fatal shooting at a Myrtle Beach McDonald's.

Matthew Scott Miller, of Myrtle Beach, is charged with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Investigators say Miller shot and killed Ross Christopher Vigeant, 38, just before 11 p.m. in the restaurant parking lot located at 3451 Bougainvillea Dr., near 38th Avenue North and the US-17 Bypass.

According to investigators, Miller and Vigeant, of Summerville, were in the drive-through lane of the McDonald's when Miller began arging with the victim to move his vehicle. Vigeant pulled out of the lane, according to authorities, and got out to argue with Miller.

Witnesses reported hearing a pop and saw Miller flee the parking lot before seeing Vigeant stagger back to his car and collapse.

Vigeant was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers arrested Miller at his apartment in Myrtle Beach, where they located his vehicle and a 9mm pistol.
