Lowell Rose joined the WBTV news team in November of 2021 as a reporter and is excited to call Charlotte home.
He is passionate about covering issues important to people in the community and telling the stories of those feeling unheard. Lowell previously worked for Spectrum News in Rochester, New York as a reporter and fill-in anchor where he focused heavily on education and the Rochester City School District’s multi-million-dollar budget deficit.
He has covered nearly all aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York state, the racial uprising during the summer of 2020, the aftermath of Rochester’s mass shooting in 2020, and the protests sparked by the death of Daniel Prude in police custody.
Before Rochester, he was a reporter for WVIR in Charlottesville and covered the deadly “Unite the Right” rally and the aftermath that left the city unstable over racial tension from the planned removal of confederate statues.
Lowell started his career as a production assistant and video editor for WTVR in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. During his time back home in Richmond, he built his skills and later became a full-time video editor for DCW50, a newscast based out of Washington, DC.
He earned his degree in Broadcast Journalism from Mississippi State University and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Press Photographers Association.
Lowell enjoys finding great local restaurants and spending time outdoors on his bike or hiking to find amazing waterfalls.
