While reporting at WECT, Ashlea has been honored several times by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas for her work. In 2015, Ashlea and Jon Evans won the RTDNAC award for the TV News Anchor Team of the Year. The readers of Encore Magazine also voted her as one of the top three newscasters in Wilmington, alongside Frances Weller and Jon Evans. She won the magazine’s award for Best Local Newscaster in 2014.
Ashlea lives in Wilmington with her husband, Brian Parke, and their German Shepherd, Archie.
Before moving to Wilmington, Ashlea worked as a news reporter at WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina. While there, she was voted best local news reporter by the readers of Creative Loafing Magazine. Ashlea got her start in television news at WTOV-TV, in her hometown of Steubenville, Ohio.
Ashlea is an alumna of Ohio University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the prestigious E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. During college, she worked at WOUB-TV, a PBS affiliate.
In her spare time, Ashlea enjoys boating, traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family, including her parents who retired to the area from Ohio and visiting her husband's family in Ireland.

The Wilmington Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into the actions of one of the department’s lieutenants following a 911 call that reveals he left his 8-year-old child naked and alone in a car while he was inside Ogden Tap Room.
“I feel like it helped me become more body positive,” Jane Durden said about her side hustle as a nude figure model. "I felt like it was a challenge to my bravery," said Joseph Winstead about the work.
