Reward offered for information on Conway-area gun theft
HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a gun theft in the Conway area.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are the ones offering the reward.
In a news release, the ATF said the Horry County Police Department responded Oct. 25 to a break-in at The Hunters Outpost at 3305 Bashor Drive.
Officers learned that a stolen vehicle had been driven through a wall and into the business.
Video surveillance showed several people getting out of the vehicle used to gain access to the business.
A police report states that two of the three suspects grabbed four assault rifles off the wall and threw them outside.
The suspects later ran from The Hunters Outpost with the firearms. A towing company had to remove the vehicle from the building.
The ATF said it is working with the Horry County Police Department on the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information about this theft can contact the Horry County Police Department tip line at 843-915-TIPS. All tips will remain anonymous.
After the robbery, The Hunters Outpost closed on Nov. 16, according to a Facebook announcement.
