Teacher on leave after allegedly showing up at student’s home to get missing homework
PERRYSBURG, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) - A teacher in Ohio is on leave following allegations they went to a student’s home unannounced to get a missing homework assignment.
According to Perrysburg Schools, the student’s family reported the incident to administrators this week, saying the teacher showed up after the school day at their home.
School officials said one of the student’s parents arrived home that night, confronted the teacher, and reported the interaction to administrators.
The Hull Prairie Intermediate School teacher was placed on administrative leave following the incident and before the next school day, officials said.
Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Thomas Hosler said that administrators are grateful the family reported the interaction and encouraged students and families to speak up whenever they have a concern about staff behavior.
“The well-being of our students remains our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities,” a statement from Perrysburg Schools read. “Perrysburg Schools is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.”
Administrators said they couldn’t share much information about the reported incident due to the ongoing investigation.
