Deputies identify suspects accused of armed robbery, chase in Georgetown County
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspects of an alleged armed robbery that ended in a car chase through Georgetown.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspects as 51-year-old Tara Lance, 18-year-old Quamae Singleton, and 47-year-old Jonathan Ward.
Allegedly, the three robbed a motel in Georgetown and led authorities on a chase through the city.
Deputies deployed stop sticks on Gapway Road near Garrison Road, which caused the vehicle to roll. Singleton and Ward ran away, but Lance stayed inside the car and was taken into custody, according to GCSO.
One of the men was found by K-9 and arrested shortly after, and the second was captured a few hours later.
Ward is accused of being connected to an assault at a Motel 6 in the city of Georgetown before the chase and crash.
Officers said they were called to the motel on Church Street for an assault and battery.
Police said they met with two victims who said they had been assaulted by a stranger who was later identified as Ward.
According to police, as Ward was driving out of the parking lot, he fired several shots up into the air.
Georgetown police have charged Ward with two counts of assault and battery, discharging a firearm in the city limits, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens and felon in possession of a firearm.
It’s unclear the charges he faces in Georgetown County.
The charges filed against the other two suspects in the case have not been released.
