‘This inlet is mine’: Victim held at gunpoint while checking crab traps in Murrells Inlet, per report
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WMBF) - Deputies in Georgetown County are investigating after a victim was reportedly held at gunpoint earlier this month.
Documents obtained by WMBF News state the incident happened on Dec. 14 near Huntington Beach State Park.
The victim told the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office that he noticed two people as he got out of the water from checking crab pot traps in a camouflage boat.
The victim said when he went over to let them know the traps were his, one of the people said “I’m from here, everything in this inlet is mine” before asking what the victim was going to do about it.
That’s when the victim said the second person pointed a shotgun at him while the other person began laughing. The first person checked the crab pot traps before the two left in the boat. It’s unclear if anything was taken.
The victim said they weren’t able to capture photos of the people involved - but did provide descriptions that were detailed in the report.
The person talking was described as a 6-foot-tall white man with glasses and long gray hair tied in a ponytail. The person with the shotgun was also described as a white man, around 5′10″ with short hair and a “sunken in face.”
The boat was also described as being around 20 feet long with a 115 Yamaha motor.
Further details were not immediately available.
