12-year-old accused of threatening to shoot up Georgetown Middle School over Tyson fight

A Georgetown Middle School student has been charged with school threats after allegedly threatening to shoot up the school.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Georgetown Middle School student has been charged with school threats after allegedly threatening to shoot up the school.

A Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office investigator found that the student threatened to shoot up the school on Snapchat if former heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson lost a made-for-television match Friday night.

The student claimed it was a joke.

Deputies found no firearms in the Powell Road home.

The student will be charged with school threats and subject to Georgetown County School District disciplinary policy.
