MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A long stretch of cool, fall weather settles in for the rest of the week. Only very minimal local impacts from Milton arrive on Thursday.

FALL WEATHER SETTLES IN

Mostly clear and cool.(WMBF)

Cooler weather will continue to filter in behind the front through the rest of the week. By Wednesday through Friday, afternoon temperatures will fall into the lower 70s.

In addition to the fall-like afternoons, get ready for the crisp mornings ahead. The latest data continues to support temperatures falling into the middle 50s for the beaches. Meanwhile, areas inland will fall into the upper 40s by the end of the week.

MINIMAL IMPACTS FROM MILTON

The same front that ushers in the beautiful fall weather this week will aid in keeping powerful Hurricane Milton well to our south. After landfall late Wednesday, the front will help steer Milton out into the open Atlantic waters. The track will be far enough south for minimal impacts to the coastal Carolinas.

Only minimal impacts from Milton are expected with cloudy skies Thursday with a slight risk of a shower and wind gusts of 20-30 mph.(WMBF)

Clouds will start to thicken up late on Wednesday with mostly cloudy skies at times through Thursday. With Milton directly to our south, we could see a stray shower near the beaches but we’re not expecting much.

The wind will turn breezy, for mainly Thursday, with gusts of 25-30 mph. Winds along the Grand Strand will remain below tropical storm force. As expected, rip currents will continue to remain dangerous through the rest of the week.

Large waves and a high rip current risk are expected as Milton stays to our south.(WMBF)

THE WEEKEND

Saturday morning will be the coldest morning this week with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. Temperatures will bounce back in the mid to upper 70s with mostly sunny skies. We will continue to stay dry throughout the weekend which make it perfect to go outside and enjoy the fall festivities going on!

A second cold front will move early next week which will bring even cooler temperatures where many parts of our viewing area will struggle to get out of the 60s.
