2 charged with SNAP fraud in unrelated cases in Pee Dee, Grand Strand
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Three people are facing fraud charges after an investigation into Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits by the Department of Social Services.
DSS released the names of three people, one from Horry County, another from Dillon County, and a third from Greenwood County. The three cases of fraud are unrelated, the department says.
36-year-old Sasha Michelle Price, of Dillon County, and 45-year-old Robyn Davis, of Horry County, both face a charge of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps, greater than $10,000. Davis also faces a forgery charge.
Price is accused of receiving $10,217.10 in benefits fraudulently and Davis allegedly received $15,816 fraudulently.
The third suspect, 48-year-old Erin Barber, of Greenwood, allegedly received $21,445 and is also facing one count of fraud.
“The South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General, is dedicated to eradicating fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct in programs administered by the agency,” DSS said in a statement.
Price was booked at the Dillon County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Davis was booked at J Reuben Long Detention Center on a $105,000 bond and was released on Aug. 30.
