FIRST ALERT: Starting off the work week week with a heat wave
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The brutal heat and humidity is back today and likely going to stick around for the next few days.
TONIGHT
We’ll stay warm and humid evening with isolated storms chances ending before midnight. We’ll remain warm and muggy tonight with overnight lows dropping in the upper 70s to low 80s with partly cloudy skies
HEAT ADVISORIES LIKELY TO CONTINUE THIS WEEK
Another heat wave will arrive for the start of the work week. Heat Indices will begin to flirt with the 105° threshold starting today. And continue to climb from Monday through Wednesday with the heat index will reach to near 110 each afternoon. Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings will likely be needed again. Actual temperatures will climb to around 90 at the coast and into the upper 90s inland. A few spots could see the temperature hitting 100.
RELIEF FROM THE HEAT
There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s looking like we may receive a break the heat as we head in to the end of the week. A cold front will begin to move in the area as we head into Thursday and Friday.
This will help our temperatures to cool back down in the mid 80s and feel like in the low 90s. More importantly, it will bring much needed rain all across our area that will help bring some relief for our drought.
