Man charged in deadly Robeson County shooting

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WMBF) - A Rowland man is facing charges in connection to a deadly Saturday night shooting in the Maxton area.

Robeson County deputies arrested 33-year-old Cedric Lee Locklear on Sunday and charged him with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The sheriff’s office was called out around 10:23 p.m. to the area of Highway 74 and Harper’s Ferry Road for someone inside a car suffering from a gunshot wound.

When the agency arrived, they found that Nathan Jones, 54, of Pembroke, had died.

Locklear was booked into custody at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
