“We are negotiating with a barricaded person at the Happy Holiday,” Myrtle Beach Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Tom Vest said. “The area is secure and officers will remain on scene while the incident is ongoing.”

Vest said the wanted man ran from police this morning, arriving and barricading himself inside the motel around 5:30 a.m.

Around 10:30 a.m., Vest said police had the person in custody and would only say the person had been wanted.

The identity of the person has not been released yet.

This is a developing story.
