SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) - Salisbury firefighters had a unique task Friday afternoon: Rescue nine trapped ducklings.

The baby ducks were trapped in a catch basin and storm drain on Riviera Drive.

Crews with SFD Rescue 2 and Engine 3 used what appeared to be a colander and small crate to lift the ducklings to safety. All nine were returned to their mother.

There are no reports of ruffled feathers, and the birds appeared to be doing just ducky.
