DHEC: S.C. records 184 new COVID-19 cases, 1 additional death announced
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Thursday 184 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Carolina since the start of the pandemic to 489,653 and deaths to 8,511, officials said.
In Horry County, there were eight new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths. In Florence County, nine new virus cases were reported and no additional deaths.
According to DHEC, 7,980 new individual test results were reported statewide, with a percent positive of 3.0%.
Of the state’s 11,345 inpatient hospital beds, 8,917 are in use for a 78.60% utilization rate, according to DHEC. Approximately 334 are COVID-19 patients, of which 94 are in ICU and 37 are ventilated.
