DHEC: S.C. records 112 new COVID-19 cases, 2 additional deaths announced

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Tuesday 112 new COVID-19 cases and two additional death.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Carolina since the start of the pandemic to 489,164 and deaths to 8,502, officials said.

In Horry County, there were four new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths. In Florence County, one new virus case was reported and no additional deaths.

According to DHEC, 5,602 new individual test results were reported statewide, with a percent positive of 3.7%.

Of the state’s 11,260 inpatient hospital beds, 8,322 are in use for a 73.91% utilization rate, according to DHEC. Approximately 319 are COVID-19 patients, of which 94 are in ICU and 40 are ventilated.
