DHEC: S.C. registers 453 new COVID-19 cases, no additional deaths

CDC recommends masks in public settings

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Monday 453 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Carolina since the start of the pandemic to 471,855 and deaths to 8,165, officials said.

In Horry County, there were 25 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths. In Florence County, 1 new virus cases were reported and no additional deaths.

According to DHEC, 15,330 new individual test results were reported statewide, with a percent positive of 4.0%.

Of the state’s 11,281 inpatient hospital beds, 8,173 are in use for a 72.45% utilization rate, according to DHEC. Approximately 511 are COVID-19 patients, of which 126 are in ICU and 65 are ventilated.
