MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Saturday 637 new COVID-19 cases and 17 additional deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Carolina since the start of the pandemic to 470,805 and deaths to 8,160, officials said.

In Horry County, there were 29 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death. In Florence County, 19 new virus cases were reported as well as an additional death.

According to DHEC, 23,209 new individual test results were reported statewide, with a percent positive of 3.7%.



Of the state’s 11,357 inpatient hospital beds, 8,622 are in use for a 75.92% utilization rate, according to DHEC. Approximately 524 are COVID-19 patients, of which 131 are in ICU and 67 are ventilated.
