Troopers called to fatal crash on I-95 in Dillon Co.
DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Troopers have responded to a deadly car crash early Friday morning in Dillon County.
According to information from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near mile marker 183 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.
A vehicle was southbound on the highway when it went off the left side of the road, troopers said. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle then ran off the right side of the road, striking trees, according to the SCHP.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to the hospital for treatment, Trooper David Jones said.
A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the SCHP.
The name of the victim was not immediately available.
