MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Much cooler weather settles into the region for Tuesday followed by another round of rain.
After hitting a near-record high temperature of 80 on Monday, much cooler weather will return to the region tonight.
With cloudy skies and a few light showers, temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 40s along the beaches and into the middle 40s in the Pee Dee.
Tuesday will be a cloudy day with significantly cooler temperatures. Afternoon readings will only reach the lower 50s. Despite the clouds, most of the day will be rain-free until a few light showers start to arrive by sunset.
Steady rain will return to the area Tuesday night with temperatures in the 40s.
Wednesday will be a washout as the next big storm system moves through the area. Rain will fall most of the day and will likely be heavy at times especially near the beaches. With clouds and rain in place, temperatures will be stuck in the 50s through the day.
Rainfall totals will likely reach 1 to 2 inches across most of the area.
A drying trend returns for the end of the week and lasts through the weekend.
