DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash early Thursday morning in Darlington County.
Troopers were called to the accident on Interstate 20 near mile marker 133 shortly after 1 a.m., according to information from SCHP.
Master Trooper Brian Lee said a 2005 Pontiac Vibe and a 2020 Jeep Utility were both eastbound on I-20 when the Jeep struck the rear of the Pontiac, causing both cars to go off the right side of the road.
The Pontiac struck a tree and the driver was killed as a result of injuries, according to the SCHP. Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the victim as 59-year-old Debra McFatter.
Lee said the collision remains under investigation.
