Barefoot Resort community raises nearly $15K for family of fallen NMB officer
Family, fellow officers say final goodbyes to North Myrtle Beach Sgt. Gordon Best

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Community members continue to support the family of fallen North Myrtle Beach Police Sgt. Gordon Best.

According to information from the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety, the Barefoot Resort community held a drive-through fundraiser to benefit Best’s family.

“We had a tremendous show of love and support raising nearly $15,000!!!!” a post on the department’s Facebook page stated. “We cannot express how much we appreciate our community, especially in times such as this.”

Best was killed in a crash while responding to a call on New Year’s Day.

A month-long raffle and fundraiser to help raise money for the construction of a memorial to Best will end on Feb. 1.
