BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WMBF) - Less than a month after the college football national championship, programs across the country are already beginning to count down to the start of next season.
The Southeastern Conference released its entire 2021 football schedule Wednesday, which includes the 2021 slate for the South Carolina Gamecocks. It will be the program’s first under a new coaching staff led by recently-hired head coach Shane Beamer.
The Gamecocks will open the year at home on Sept. 4 against Eastern Illinois, with the rest of the nonconference slate including a road game at East Carolina along with home games against Troy and Clemson.
The scheduled game against Clemson comes after a season in which the in-state rivals did not play each other for the first time in over a century.
The team’s SEC slate will begin with a road game at Georgia on Sept. 18, along with the rest of the SEC East. The cross-division draws for the Gamecocks this year are Texas A&M and Auburn.
No ticket information was immediately available.
