SCHP: 1 killed in three-vehicle crash in Marlboro County

MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – One person was killed Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Marlboro County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Master Trooper Brian Lee said troopers responded to the wreck on S.C. 38 North near Wire Road.

Lee said a Chrysler 200 was heading north on S.C. 38 North when the driver went left of center and crashed into a Chevy Malibu that was driving in the opposite direction. A Ford Fusion that was also traveling north on S.C. 38 was also involved in the wreck.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu was killed in the crash, according to Lee. The person’s name has not been released.

Lee said the driver and passengers in the Chrysler 200 were taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the Ford Fusion was not transported.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
