Police: Man hurt in Myrtle Beach hotel shooting taken into custody

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach police announced they have taken a second person into custody in connection to a shooting at a Myrtle Beach hotel.

The shooting happened Thursday at the Motel 6 on Frontage Road East, off Highway 501.

Officers said 35-year-old Jason Jones of Staten Island, NY was hurt in the shooting, taken to the hospital and released. Since then, Jones has been charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Myrtle Beach police also discovered that there was a warrant out for Jones’ arrest, which was unrelated to the shooting.

Jones is currently at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. His hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Ted Collins Law Enforcement Center.
