MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - As some area high school basketball teams return to action, officials in Region 6-4A schools have announced a tournament bracket that will end the regular season.

Both the boys and girls brackets were revealed Thursday, and were each decided by a random draw. Both tournaments will also tip off with first-round games on Feb. 12.

In the first round on the boys’ side, South Florence will host Myrtle Beach while North Myrtle Beach will welcome Darlington. Hartsville will play host to Wilson to round out the opening slate of games.

By virtue of the random draw, West Florence was granted a bye into the second round, where they will face the winner of the South Florence-Myrtle Beach game.

On the girls’ side, North Myrtle Beach was given the bye while Myrtle Beach will host Wilson. Elsewhere, West Florence will travel to Hartsville, while Darlington hosts South Florence.

Both tournaments will also decide the at-large nominees for the upcoming state tournament, with the losers of each semifinal game facing off in a third-place game.

The news comes as school districts in the Pee Dee are inching toward a return to the court. Wilson and West Florence both released updated schedules Thursday, while Hartsville and Darlington will be able to resume activities next week.

Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach resumed games earlier this week, facing off against each other on Tuesday.
