LUMBERTON, N.C. (WMBF) – Lumberton police continue to investigate a traffic crash that resulted in a man’s death.
According to information from the Lumberton Police Department, the crash happened on East 5th Street, near 2nd Street, on Monday, Jan. 18.
Investigators said a moped being driven by 43-year-old William Haggins failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign and collided with a 1991 GMC.
Haggins was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries before later being transferred to another hospital, according to the Lumberton Police Department.
On Thursday, police were notified that Haggins died from his injuries, a press release stated.
