HARTSVILLE, S.C. (WMBF) - Nearly 1,000 people are still in the dark following an outage in Darlington County on Thursday.
The online outage map from Duke Energy showed the outage was concentrated around areas in Hartsville.
At 5:10 p.m. Thursday, the company reported as many as 5,650 customers without power across Darlington County. Nearly an hour later, that number had dropped to less than 10.
The Hartsville Police Department said Thursday that the outage was impacting traffic lights. Authorities encourage drivers to treat dead lights like a four-way stop sign, and to take turns until the lights come back on. The City of Hartsville also closed its offices early due to the outage.
