FIRST ALERT: Cloudy skies, a few showers linger for Friday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Cloudy skies and a few showers will linger through Friday before clearing skies return for the weekend.

Skies will remain cloudy through tonight with a sprinkle or two possible at times. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s across the Grand Strand and into the lower to middle 40s across the Pee Dee.

A weak storm system will pass south of the region on Friday with a good chance of rain across the South Carolina Low Country. Locally, cloudy skies will continue through most of Friday with a slight chance of a light shower or sprinkle especially early in the day. Temperatures will climb into the middle 50s through the afternoon. A few peeks of sunshine may develop late in the day.

A surge of dry and chilly weather will arrive Friday night sending temperatures into the middle to upper 30s.

The weekend will be brisk and cool with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures both days near 50. The coldest weather settles in Saturday night with temperatures dropping into the upper 20s across the Pee Dee and to near freezing along the Grand Strand.
