HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – An online fundraiser has been established for the family of fallen Horry County Police LCpl. Melton “Fox” Gore.”
“As with any death of a friend or family member, anyone can understand the emotional, physical, as well as financial strain, that a death in the family can cause,” a Go Fund Me page titled “Melton ‘Fox’ Gore Memorial Fund” stated. “Along with thoughts and prayers for Fox’s family and friends, any financial contribution that someone is able to make will be extremely appreciated.”
The page, which is being run by the Coastal Carolina Fraternal Order of Police, has a goal of raising $25,000. Those who want to donate can click here.
“Fox’s family has expressed that they would like any donations to serve as a scholarship fund for Fox’s 12-year-old son. Thank you for your generous contributions and kindness,” a tweet from the HCPD stated.
HONORING LANCE CPL. MELTON “FOX” GORE
This week, members of the community are invited to honor the life of Gore, alongside members of law enforcement and public safety.
Gore was killed almost a week ago after being hit by a car while he was cleaning up trash along Highway 22.
A public viewing and visitation are taking place Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the auditorium of North Myrtle Beach High School. It will go from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Then on Wednesday, Jan. 20, a memorial service is being held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, starting at 11 a.m. Horry County Police ask anyone who attends to wear a face mask.
