LAKE CITY, S.C. (WMBF) - Florence County School District 3 announced Thursday that it will continue virtual learning through the end of January.
The district said its board voted Wednesday to extend remote instruction through Jan. 29, “due to the high number of COVID cases and exposures in the area among staff and students.”
Officials added that plans are for students who choose face-to-face instruction to return to school on Feb. 1, and a transition plan will be shared with employees next week.
Lake City High School’s athletic department also tweeted Thursday that it will be shutting down until Feb. 1, with more information coming Friday regarding schedules.
The board also voted Wednesday to extend the Families First Coronavirus Response Act’s expiration date through March 31. The act provides 80 hours of paid leave for employees impacted by the pandemic.
