HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Condolences are pouring in after a veteran Horry County police officer lost his life in the line of duty.
LCpl. Melton “Fox” Gore, 57, was killed Tuesday night while he was performing a task outside of his truck near the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 31. The chief of police said that the preliminary investigation shows that Gore was trying to get some debris out of the road when he was hit.
Gore served as an environmental officer with the Horry County Police Department for more than 20 years.
As soon as HCPD announced that Gore was killed in the line of duty, law enforcement agencies, leaders and those in the community have gone to social media to express their condolences for Gores’s family and for his brothers and sisters in blue at HCPD.
