FIRST ALERT: Stray shower tonight, brighter skies Thursday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A few stray showers will be possible tonight followed by clearing skies for Thursday.

Low clouds and fog have been slow to clear through the day and will be replaced by another round of clouds during the late evening hours as weak storm system brushes the area. A few light showers or sprinkles will be possible after sunset but will be out of the area before sunrise. Temperatures tonight will drop into the middle and upper 30s across the Pee Dee and to around 40 along the Grand Strand.

More sunshine will return on Thursday along with slightly milder temperatures as readings climb into the middle 50s.

Friday will see more warm weather with afternoon temperatures hitting 60 in many spots.

Late Friday will see a cold front approach the region. Ahead of the front, clouds will thicken late Friday afternoon with a few showers likely Friday evening and into Friday night.

Cooler weather will flow into the Carolinas behind the front with a seasonably chilly weekend on tap.

Daytime temperatures will reach the upper 40s to near 50 both Saturday and Sunday with overnight temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
