HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash along Highway 544.
Troopers and Horry County Fire Rescue crews were called to the crash around 6:15p.m. Tuesday at Highway 544 near Glenmere Drive.
LCpl. Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a Harley Davidson was headed east on Highway 544 and a Subaru was heading west and trying to make a left hand turn onto Glenmere Drive.
Tidwell said the motorcycle collided with the car and the passenger of the Harley was thrown from the motorcycle.
The passenger was killed and the driver of the motorcycle was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center. Tidwell added that neither person was wearing a helmet.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said the victim is a 33-year-old female but is still working to find her next of kin. He said once the family is located then her name will be released.
The driver of the Subaru was taken to South Strand Medical Center for their injuries.
