MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating after a man was injured in a deputy-involved shooting Sunday evening in Marion County, officials said.
Tommy Crosby, SLED spokesperson, said a Marion County deputy was responding to a domestic call when a shot was fired during a confrontation with a man.
The man, who was shot during the incident, was taken to the hospital for treatment, Crosby added.
His condition was not immediately known.
According to Crosby, the deputy involved was not injured. No other injuries have been reported.
SLED investigators are working to collect evidence and conduct interviews with possible witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to SLED, the incident in Marion County was the second officer-involved shooting in South Carolina in 2021, the other being in Aiken County.
