CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper was sworn in for a second term Saturday after defeating Republican challenger Dan Forest in November’s election.
The theme of the ceremony in Raleigh was “Strong, Resilient, Ready,” and was held without many in attendance due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“I am humbled by the trust that you, the people of North Carolina have placed in me to serve again as your Governor. I have faith in you, and thank you for putting your faith in me,” Governor Cooper said in his Inaugural Address. “Together, may we continue to be strong, resilient and ready.”
Also sworn in was Republican Mark Robinson, who was elected the state’s lieutenant governor, as well as the rest of the Council of State.
