DHEC: Over 4,500 new COVID-19 cases in S.C., over 50 new deaths reported

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Saturday 4,576 new COVID-19 cases and 52 additional deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Carolina since the start of the pandemic to 320,105 and deaths to 5,267, officials said.

In Horry County, there were new 217 COVID-19 cases and two new deaths. In Florence County, 206 new virus cases were reported along with two new deaths.

According to DHEC, 15,046 new individual test results were reported statewide, with a percent positive of 30.4%.



Of the inpatient hospital beds in S.C., 9,359 are in use for an 83.04% utilization rate, according to DHEC. Of that number, 2,383 are COVID-19 patients, with 457 in ICU and 243 ventilated.
