INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WMBF) - Indianapolis Colt linebacker and Lake View native Darius Leonard received a huge honor on Friday. It’s an honor he’s used to getting since he’s been in the National Football League.
It was announced today that the former Wild Gator was named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press. It’s Leonard’s third consecutive season being an All-Pro and his second time landing on the first team.
Leonard started all 14 games he appeared in this season for the Colts and finished with 132 total tackles (86 solo), seven tackles for loss, three sacks, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
His 416 career tackles are the most by a Colts player in their first three seasons. Since his rookie season in 2018, Leonard has recorded 10-or-more tackles in 22 games, which is the second-most over that time frame.
Leonard has the most total All-Pro selections and the most First Team All-Pro selections by a linebacker in Colts history. He was also named to his second career Pro Bowl earlier this season.
