COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCSC) - South Carolina quarterback Collin Hill will not return to the program for the 2021 season a school official confirmed on Friday evening. The news was first reported by Josh Kendall of The Athletic.

Hill, who transferred to South Carolina for his senior season from Colorado State, started 8 games for the Gamecocks in 2020 and threw for over 1,400 yards along with 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

The QB came to Columbia following Mike Bobo who was his head coach at Colorado State. Bobo left the team on Thursday after just 1 season to become the offensive coordinator at Auburn.

Hill is the 2nd quarterback to leave the Gamecocks this offseason. Ryan Hillinski, who Hill beat out for the starting job at the start of 2020, announced he was entering the transfer portal last week.

The decision leaves South Carolina with just Luke Doty and Colten Gauthier as scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
