NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A public visitation for Sgt. Gordon Best is happening Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alabama Theatre.
Sgt. Gordon Best, 30, was killed in a New Year’s Day crash while responding to a call.
On Friday, the funeral service for Best is also taking place at the Alabama Theatre.
People are asked to follow COVID-19 protocols during the visitation and funeral by wearing face masks and social distancing.
The funeral is not open to the public, but North Myrtle Beach city officials said the public is welcome to position along the route to honor Best.
However, the public should keep their vehicles out of the flow of traffic and legally parked. Officials added to not park or stand in medians.
The funeral procession begins at 12 p.m. from Goldfinch Funeral Home in Conway, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. The service will also be livestreamed, which can be viewed here.

- Proceed East on SC 22 to SC 31 Northbound

- Merge onto US Highway 17 South
- Right Turn into 1st Avenue South
- Left on Bay Street
- Left on 2nd Avenue South
- Right on US Highway 17
- Right at 48th Avenue South into Barefoot parking lot
