MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A South Carolina nonprofit is now aiming to help the family of a fallen Marion County sheriff’s deputy.

Serve & Connect is currently hosting an online fundraiser for the family of Jonathan David Price after he died in the line of duty following a crash Wednesday night.

Price, 29, had served with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office since last September, and previously served with the Dillon Police Department. He also leaves behind a wife and three young children, according to officials.

The organization is looking to raise $10,000 for Price’s family. The fundraiser is endorsed by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer’s Association, South Carolina Police Chief’s Association, South Carolina Sheriff’s Association and the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police.

Based in Columbia, Serve & Connect says it works “directly with law enforcement, community stakeholders, and citizen leaders, we aspire to improve neighborhoods challenged by poverty, crime, and neglect by building trust, optimizing collaboration, and fostering a shared sense of pride,” according to its website.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will directly go toward Price’s family, according to the organization.
