LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man is in custody in connection to the armed robbery of a taxi driver in the Midlands.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to a convenience store in the area of South Lake Drive at 11 a.m. Thursday. Deputies then set up a perimeter around the area after arriving at the scene.

A short time later, authorities arrested 19-year-old Blake Austin McGrath in connection to the incident. Investigators said McGrath pulled a gun on the cab driver and ordered the man to take him back to Myrtle Beach. The driver was able to get away and no one was hurt, according to authorities.

Investigators said McGrath is expected to face multiple charges.

Deputies said more details will be available Friday. McGrath is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
