COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) - An Horry County man now faces more than a dozen charges related to child sexual exploitation, according to state officials.
The office of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said 49-year-old Christopher John Fletcher, of Murrells Inlet, was arrested Thursday in connection to those charges. The attorney general’s office said the Horry County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest with assistance from Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators.
The ICAC also aided the Attorney General’s Office in the investigation.
Investigators received reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children leading them to Fletcher, who they claim was distributing child sexual abuse material.
Fletcher is charged with 14 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to officials.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Online records show Fletcher is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $28,000 bond.
