Police: Green Sea home hit by gunfire, one injured

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – One person was hurt after a home in Green Sea was struck by gunfire Tuesday night, authorities said.

According to a report from Horry County police, officers were called to a home on Sandy Bluff Road around 7:40 p.m. for reports of a person shot.

While responding to the scene, authorities were advised that two cars were shooting at one another on West Dogwood Road and Highway 9 Bypass, heading toward Highway 9 Business, the report stated.

When police arrived on Sandy Bluff Road, they found a home hit four times by gunfire. Authorities said the shooting left one person injured.

The victim, who police said was shot in his upper thigh, was transported to the hospital for treatment.

That person’s current condition was not immediately known.

Due to the investigation, police had to close part of Highway 9 and Sandy Bluff Road at Highway 410 near the state line for about an hour. The roads reopened around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.
