HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – The Horry County School District announced Sunday they are placing a hold on winter sports competitions until the middle of this month.
According to information from Horry County Schools, the hold will go until Jan. 19 and includes wrestling and basketball teams.
Additionally, all winter sports practices have been placed on hold until Jan. 11, which includes wrestling, basketball and cheerleading, the district announced.
All spring sports conditioning has been placed on hold until Jan. 19.
The announcement comes as students with Horry County Schools prepare to return to a fully virtual learning model on Monday following the winter break.
Virtual learning for Horry County students will go from Jan. 4 through Jan. 15. The district cited a rising number of COVID-19 cases in the county as the reason for the decision.
