MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Beginning this week, parents within Horry County Schools will be allowed to request a change to their student’s learning method for the spring semester.
The district announced parents of virtual students will receive emails on Monday, which contains a link to the commitment form for their students to return to the brick-and-mortar option for the upcoming semester, which begins Feb. 1.
HCS said the form must be completed by midnight on Dec. 14 in order for students to be withdrawn from the virtual program, and must be completed for each child that will return. For parents wanting to keep students in the virtual program, officials said no action is required.
Conversely, parents wanting to switch their students from the brick-and-mortar to the virtual program will receive an email on Dec. 15. The deadline to complete that form is midnight on Dec. 22. No action is needed for parents who want to keep students in the brick-and-mortar option.
The district also said all decisions are final, and changes will be commitment until June 2021.
