MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WMBF) – A Grand Strand state representative will host a COVID-19 testing event on Saturday to make sure people are safe before eating some turkey with loved ones.
Rep. Russell Fry, who represents the Surfside Beach area, is putting “Test Before Turkey” which will be a free drive-thru style testing event at St. James High School.
“Having that extra peace of mind heading into Thanksgiving is important to people. Families need fellowship; friends want to see each other. We need that, this year more than most. And along with practicing recommended health measures, having a clean test gives everyone that peace of mind and allows families to make informed decisions,” Fry said.
It will be administered by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Fry also said that with it being on a weekend, he hopes that more people will be able to participate and get their test results before Thanksgiving.
The testing event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James High School at 10800 Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet. Those participating are asked to use the entrance off Salem Road.
